Toys and Games

Third graders inquired into how their parents and grandparents used to express themselves through toys and games when they were children. They valued yesterday's games and learned that such playthings allowed their relatives to use their imagination, be more socially and physically active, and take good care of their belongings. They were provided with the chance to compare yesterday's and today's games and make decisions about how to express themselves during playtime.




Our children played the role of researchers, interviewers, and film makers while inquiring about the toys and games of the past. They made connections between how children expressed themselves before and how they, in modern times, express ideas, thoughts, and feelings through today's toys and games. These are the results of such an inquiry...
