We Explore and Communicate

Actualizado: 14 sept 2018

Throughout the third term, third grade students developed different activities at the laboratory which let them identify a number of ways in which human beings have expressed scientific thought through signs and symbols and how they have made meaning from the world around them.

3rd A's SCIENCE POSTERS IN WHICH KIDS COMPARED "LIGHT AND SOUND"

"GOING TO THE LAB" HAS BEEN SOMETHING COOL FOR STUDENTS, AND THEY FEEL AS REAL SCIENTISTS

Communicating and interpreting gained insights on matter changes through drawings was not a difficult job for our little scientists!!!

In fact, they actually enjoyed lab time! This video shows what they felt and also, what they expressed on their way to the lab!

SCIENCE LAB EXPERIENCE ABOUT LIGHT 3-D

During this short lab practice on light, the students found out the effects that light suffers when it passes through different media (air and water).

This experience helped children express in written and oral way what they learned on the topic studied. They had the possibility to develop their communicative skills when describing a natural phenomenon with clear and appropriate words in order to differentiate 'reflection and refraction.'

3E WORKED IN THE LAB, LEARNT ABOUT LIGHT AND EXPRESSED THEMSELVES AS PROFESSIONALS OF THE SCIENCE FIELD!

This time students had the opportunity to express their learning through practical experiences ... Every time they visited the lab it was a great adventure full of learning and joy!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST...HERE COME GIRLS AND BOYS FROM 3RD C... INQUIRING INTO HOW MATTER IS MEASURED...EXPRESSING THEMSELVES THROUGH NUMBERS, ABBREVIATIONS, GRAPHS AND USING TOOLS THAT THEY HAD NEVER USED BEFORE!!!

Look at their faces!!! Migue, Anto, and Tommy really feel curious about finding the mass of classroom objects!!!

Sammy: "I'm the tallest girl in 3rd C class... Do I have more mass than my classmates?"

Don´t look at them... I have the right answer...I know how much matter your cellphone has!!!

What is it what you want to touch, Sofi scientist?

Jacob: Wow! how looooong that thermometer is! How can it measure the temperature of the hot water?

Third B kids communicated and showed their knowledge through foldables in which they included images, examples and characteristics of each state of matter. They enjoyed a lot working in groups and expressing scientific though through a variety of codes!
